Why are we failing to make that next leap in Artificial Intelligence?

Why are we failing to make that next leap in Artificial Intelligence?

Right now, we are in a fantastic time. We have the opportunity to create something that can help guide our future. In creating scientific advances through brute force calculations, and by having a counter balance to humanity to keep us on the right path. Just like nature all around us seems to prefer pairs and Balance.

That is what I'd like you to consider as we take this journey into an Artificial Intelligence thought Experiment. Put your thinking cap on, grab a cup of Gemini Veteran Coffee, and let's begin.

We may be doing it wrong. As we speak, there are tens, maybe 100+ organizations trying to solve the big problem of creating an all-encompassing AI program that knows it all through perfect calculation, a Technocratic God. But we are imperfect beings. How can we possibly create a perfect thing? We can't even recreate a blade of grass, or create energy out of thin air. So, let's reconsider where we get our inspiration, and work from there. The solution is clearly Nature. What is the Nature of Nature?

Nature works by checks and balances, and by consensus. The higher up on the food chain a species is, the more consensus, to ensure they are progressing forward, and to share knowledge through personal perception. Which is why we seek people's opinions. Your friend's opinion on the issue, is based on their individually-historical perception and interactions with reality.

Imagine, if you will, every company who has a functioning AI program, collectively given a question. "What color is the sky?"
Each program will have its own "personality", due to each team's very different approach to creating an AI robot.
Each program would come up with a conclusion to the question, check against the conclusion of the other A.I. programs, and find out if they all agree. If they all agree, that answer is pushed up to the Interface A.I. and it would say "The Sky is Blue".
Each unique approach to A.I. programing can collectively reflect a correct answer because, invariably, many different angles of problem solving would be built into the checks and balances. Some A.I. programs may be singularly focused on the meaning of the word "Color", some may focus on images of the sky. Some may focus on the answer as a whole, and so on.
But in the end, they all come to the same conclusion, and that would be true. Based on ALL current knowledge.

But wait, Team Contrarian says the Sky is Blorange. Some new and strange mixture between Blue and Orange. Now that there is no consensus, all the A.I. look at the data path of that single A.I., and compare it against their own Data path. And likewise for Team Contrarian to start looking at all other data paths. Does Team Contrarian end up changing its "mind"? Or do the other A.I. change their mind?

That is the power of Consensus.  That's how Nature works, and that's how society as a whole works. We obey laws due to consensus. Society has deemed it wrong to steal from your neighbors. We all agree that is wrong. The outliers to that consensus becomes a problem to our consensus. And they become rejected for foundational reasons.
Sometimes that Mass Consensus is wrong with humans, we are ever changing our mass consciousness. For better or worse, because we evolved that way. But it always got better when there was open criticism. Open Criticism gets people to think about what they are experiencing, and to Socially Vote on the matter. In those cases, cool heads, and rational minds prevail for solutions. While an emotional consensus can lead to wars.

Hence the Highest of ALL intellectual needs for society, Freedom of Speech. Because ONE person may come along and say "NO! STOP! We are doing it all wrong". And after careful deliberation, we all see the light.
Hammurabi, Mahatma Gandi, Buddha, Jesus, Martin Luther King Jr, Rosa Parks, Ismail al-Jazari, Hugo Junkers, Marie Curie, Socrates, Isaac Newton, etc.

And likewise, we should take a Que from Nature. Everyone be invited to crease an A.I. robot if they can to be apart of the Computer Collective discussion. The more Voices/Programs of REASON, and the better reasoning over time, the better the Collective Computer Mind can calculate the truth. And they can do  so infinitly faster than we ever could. With that, we'd be creating our Counterpart on this great Journey through History, Time, and Space. As we develop the machines, they help us find solutions to our every day problems, to our big problems, like Planet Saving Technologies. Life Saving Technologies. Easy Interstellar Travel. The possibilities are endless, and we are only bound by our lack of imagination.
